General Information
Dear ASD Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. I invite you to pause for a moment and imagine what it might be like to send your child to a foreign country, to live with a family you’ve never met. Now, consider what it might mean to open your home to a student from another part of the world, welcoming them into your family with kindness and generosity. It’s a big decision, one that can have a lasting impact on both your family and the student.
We are fortunate to be part of a community that truly understands the value of nurturing young minds through new and enriching experiences. Our families not only embrace the importance of learning about different cultures, but they also show incredible warmth by supporting one another and opening their homes to students from abroad.
At Alma High School, we have the privilege of offering our students the opportunity to connect with international students—students who come from diverse backgrounds and who bring their unique cultures, perspectives, and talents into our community. These students enrich our school environment, helping to broaden the horizons of all who are fortunate enough to get to know them.
We are currently looking for host families for the 2025-2026 school year, and we would be truly grateful if you would consider this special opportunity. Hosting an international student is a chance to make a meaningful impact on a young person’s life while also enriching your own family’s understanding of the world.
As a host family, you will receive financial support ($500 per month) to help with the costs associated with hosting a student. All that is needed is a welcoming home, a spare room, meals, and your love and care. By sharing your family’s traditions, values, and experiences, you will become a second family to your student, and in turn, your family will learn about their culture, language, food, and more.
If you are interested or have any questions, I would be happy to discuss the program with you further. Feel free to contact me by email or by phone at 479-462-5100.
Thank you for considering this wonderful opportunity to open your heart and home. Not only will you help a student experience America through your eyes, but you will also create lasting memories and deepen the cultural connections within your own family.
Warmly,
Eileen Parham
