Alma 8th and 9th-grade grid teams sweep Clarksville

The Alma eighth and ninth-grade football teams won two games over Clarksville last week.
Nate Risley completed 9-of-14 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown as the Airedales’ junior high team rolled to a 43-21 victory over the Panthers.
Barron Daily caught three passes for 29 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown. Daily also carried the ball six times for 43 yards and a pair of scores.
Dallas Perkins scored twice and added 80 yards rushing, and Quinton Broadway had two carries for 84 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown burst.
Broadway, William Hamilton, Mason Mahar, and Malachi Houck caught at least one pass, with Hamilton snagging three passes for 30 yards. Alma finished with 330 yards of offense.
Hamilton had three receptions for 30 yards.
Defensively, Treven Moore led the charge with nine tackles, including six solo stops. Dylan Brumley had eight tackles, and Perkins finished with seven tackles, including a quarterback sack. Cole Newton added six tackles, and Burden and Brennan Gwinn had four stops.
The Airedales’ Blake Blackburn had three tackles, including a TFL (tackle for loss). He also blocked an extra-point try.
In the eighth grade game, Risley threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns on 5-of-10 passing. David Atherton caught three passes for 143 yards and two scores, including an 88-yard TD reception.
Billy Burden caught two passes for 48 yards and a score. Trevor Hoover rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown.
