Given the upcoming severe weather, it's important to review the Safe Room rules and procedures. Please note that the safe room at Alma High School will NOT be accessible due to ongoing construction in that area.
SAFE ROOM RULES
The Safe Room is only open to the public when a tornado warning (not watch) has been issued and/or the tornado sirens have been sounded.
The Safe Room will remain open until the tornado warning is lifted. When that warning expires, the Safe Room must be vacated.
During school hours, students and staff have priority for Safe Room occupancy. The community will be admitted after all the students have been safely sheltered.
It is mandatory to follow the directions of the Safe Room manager or school administrator at all times.
Pets are not allowed in the shelter unless they are confined in an airline-approved carrier. Pets must remain under the possession and control of the owner at all times.
Food and drink are not permitted in the shelter.
Smoking or tobacco in any form is prohibited in the shelter and on all school property in accordance with Arkansas law.
Radios or other music devices may be used only with individual earphones.
