Hughes-led Lady Airedales to defeat Siloam Springs, 40-22

Siloam Springs could have enjoyed a first-quarter lead against Alma on Thursday.
But missing 10 of 12 first-quarter free throws allowed the Lady Airedales to stretch their lead to 18-13 after one half of play en route to a 40-22 victory at Crabtree Gym.
Olivia Hughes scored 11 of her game-high 12 points in the final quarter for the 12-2 Lady Airedales.
“I think that this team has very good chemistry and we play well together,” Hughes said. “I think we have each other’s back, even when the game gets tough. I think we pick each other up.”
Alma, 3-0 in conference play, travels to Farmington on Jan. 18.
Faith Sartor, Jaeda Cahoon, and Lauren Settle had six points apiece for the winners. Maddie Dunn and Madi House had three points each, and Anna Swarnes and Jaeli Morris added two points apiece.
Junior Boys
Luke Stogsdill scored 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting as the Airedales ran their record to 13-2 with a 39-25 come-from-behind win over Siloam Springs.
The Airedales, 3-0 in league play, fell behind 7-6 after one quarter but surged ahead 18-11 midway through the second quarter on the first of two Landon Taylor 3-pointers. Taylor had six points and two assists and Cade Moore finished with five points and four rebounds.
Alma’s bench accounted for 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Chase Wood and Drake Ciampoli had three points apiece, and Carson Curd, Lawson Adams, Hudson Loughridge, and Boaz Benson finished with two points apiece.
Curd added four assists and three rebounds.
