Good balance powers Alma to 55-40 win over Cedarville

The Alma ninth-grade boys basketball team ran its record to 7-0 Monday with a 55-40 win over Cedarville. 

Carson Hamilton led Alma with nine points, followed by Luke Stogsdill and Hudson Loughridge with seven and six points, respectfully. Carson Curd added five points, and Drake Ciapoli and Lawson Adams finished with four points apiece. 

Led by Hamilton’s big game, Alma’s bench accounted for 24 points. Cade Moore added six points off the bench, and Sammy Moore and Boaz Benson scored four points apiece. 

Landon Taylor and Ezra Keller hit a pair of 3-pointers. 

Alma trailed 8-7 before Taylor fed Cade Moore with a go-ahead bucket. The Airedales led 12-7 after one quarter and 31-17 at the half. 

 

Alma 40, Cedarville 29 

GIRLS — Lauren Settle scored six early points and the Alma Lady Airedales’ ninth-grade team rallied to beat Cedarville Monday, 40-29. 

Settle and Faith Sartor finished with 10 points. Sartor also pulled down 14 rebounds. 

Anna Swarnes added eight points in the victory. Maddie Dunn had six points, while Madie House and Olivia Hughes finished with two and one point, respectively. 

 

Alma 47, Cedarville 25 

BOYS — Carson Hamilton scored 11 of his game-high 18 points in the second quarter to power the Alma eighth-grade boys basketball team to a 47-25 win over Cedarville Monday. 

Alma trailed 16-10 early in the second quarter before going on a 12-4 run to close the half. Alma opened the third quarter with 10 quick points. 

Also for Alma, Barron Daily scored 10 points, while Jack Taylor and Gabe Hardin finished with six and five points, respectively. Tucker Workman and Bryson Smith had three points, and Brodie Baldwin scored two points. 

Alma 34, Cedarville 4  

GIRLS — Chloe Kovalck poured in eight points to lead the Alma eighth-grade girls’ basketball team to a 34-4 win over Cedarville. 

Mallory Taylor added six points for the winners, while Khloe Dunn hit for five and Madie House four. 

Also, Alma’s Lauren Burdick, Grayce Routt, and Haven Baxter scored two points each, and Kadee Wise and Ellyse Wright added one point each.
