Lady Airedales fall to Bears

The Alma Lady Airedales’ volleyball dropped a 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-19) nonconference decision to Northside Monday.
Alma erased a late 20-17 deficit in the opener, but couldn’t maintain a 19-16 lead in the second game.
Grace Peters and Chloe Gregory combined for 27 kills to pace Alma, with Peters leading the way with 14 kills.
Miranda Gibson and Zoe Thrift had eight kills apiece.
Julia Nutt surpassed 800 assists for her career and finished with a team-high 48 assists for Alma.
Football
The Airedales’ eighth-grade team dropped a 28-8 decision to Harrison Monday.
Alma took an 8-6 lead after one quarter on Quinton Broadway’s 27-yard touchdown run. He finished with 49 yards rushing on nine carries.
Brenna Gwinn led the Airedales with eight tackles, including five solo stops. Hudson Sharp added four tackles and an interception.
Trevan Moore also played well defensively with four tackles.
