Kimes-led Alma JH tops SC

Emberly Kimes had 10 kills, three digs, and a solo block to power the Lady Airedales’ junior high team to a 25-9, 25-23 win over Shiloh Christian in junior high volleyball action.
Jaeda Cahoon had five kills and a pair of digs for the winners (6-1). Jaslyn Boone had four kills, 11 assists, two digs, and an ace. Teammate Peyton Morris added three kills and an assist.
Isabelle Peters and Bailee Oliver had a service rating of 2.4 and 2.0, respectively, for the winners. Peters had three aces, two kills, and a team-high 12 digs. Oliver added nine kills, four assists, and a kill.
Anna Swarnes finished with eight digs, one kill, and a solo block. Jaslyn Boone finished with four kills, 11 assists, and, two digs.
Also for Alma, Matilyn Dunn had nine assists, six digs, two kills, and two aces. Julia McAlister finished with a dig.
The Alma Lady Airedales’ eighth-grade team defeated Shiloah Christian, 25-3, 25-21, to improve to 3-2.
Olivia Hughes led the charge with six kills, three aces, and a dig. Olivia Whipple finished with kills, two aces, and one dig. Mallory Taylor had two kills, two aces, two assists, and two digs. Kadee Wise finished with three digs and a kill.
Chloe Kovalck had five assists and an ace. Grace Routt added a pair of aces. Camryn Waters added two aces and a dig. Ellyse Wright, Raelynn Avey, Haven Baxter, Marlie Simpson, and Bentley Vaughn each had a dig. Vaughn also had a perfect 3.0 in serve receive.
The Lady Airedales’ Jalie Morris added a kill.
The Alma Lady Airedales’ varsity team dropped a 22-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19 decision to unbeaten Russellville Tuesday in 5A-West play.
Alma (1-8, 0-3) will host Van Buren on Thursday at Charles B. Dyer Arena.
Sophomores Chloe Gregory and Maggie Brogan combined for 20 kills to pace Alma, with Gregory leading the charge with a dozen kills.
Senior Zoe Thrift had seven kills and one block, and sophomore Breella Hughes finished with four kills and two blocks. Senior Julia Nutt added 27 assists.
Golf
The Alma golf team competed in Rogers this week.
Miles Kendrick fired two rounds of 79 and 81, respectively, with his first-round 79 being a personal best. Chase Wood shot 80-87 for the Airedales.
Grady Farmer shot 82-86 for the Airedales. Parker Morland fired a two-round score of 184 (90-94). Piercen Howell shot 90-98.
The Airedales will compete in the 5A-West conference match next week at Big Creek (Mountain Home).
