Alma excels at Bulldog Relays

Alma Schools 


The Airedales competed at the Greenwood Relays on Thursday. The foursome of Samuel Schlegel, John Crump, Dylan Jackson, and Ayden Parker won the 800 relay with a time of 1:33.92.


Schlegel was second (41.2) and Dylan Jackson third (45.17) in the 300 intermediate hurdles. Crump was fifth. 


Crump had a PR (15.06) while finishing second in the 110 hurdles. Schlegel was third (15.99). 


Alma’s Jackson Mitchell was third (40-11), and Weston McCall and Dallas Stallings fourth and fifth in the shot put. 


Alma’s Demetrius Humphrey finished third (118-9) in the discus. 


Kenadie Farris, Zoye Wofford, Nevaeh Kangas, and Vivian Beneux finished second (1:55.92) in the 800 relay. 


Wofford was third (1:07.78) in the 400 meters. Ah Lea Henson was second (4-8) and Farris fourth in the high jump. 


Beneux was fifth in the 100 meters. 


Baseball 


The Alma Airedales’ baseball team ran its overall record to 6-0 this season against Van Buren this week by sweeping a junior varsity doubleheader. 


Sophomore left-hander Landon Taylor struck out five and allowed just three hits in the team’s 2-1 victory in the opener. He took a no-hitter into the fifth inning. 


Carson Curd and Taylor led the offense with run-scoring singles. Curd also had a double. 


Alma won the second game, 7-5. Sammy Moore had two hits to pace the winners. Freshman Eli Beller pitched well in relief for the winners. Fellow freshman Dallas Perkins struck out the final batter to earn the save. 


Softball 

The Alma Lady Airedales’ softball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Lavaca in nonconference play on Thursday. 

Brooklyn Neighbors was the losing pitcher, tossing six solid innings. She scattered seven hits and allowed just one earned run. Neighbors also had two of the team’s five hits. 

Annie Davis, Laramie Carr, and Cali Frazier also hit safely for the Lady Airedales (7-9).
