Alma jumped on Gravette early on the way to a 6-0 nonconference victory Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Field at Airedale Stadium.
Marco Canales scored two early goals in the fifth and 14th minutes for an early 2-0 lead. Kyle Cudlip added two more goals in the 16th and 26th minutes, with assists from Aven Frantzen and Hamar Thibodeaux.
It was Cudlip’s first goal since his game-winner during an April 27, 2022, win over Vilonia.
Thibodeaux also assisted on Canales’ second goal.
Up 4-0 at the half, Alma (3-3-3) scored twice more in the 70th and 75th minutes on goals from Baron King and Treven Moore.
For the game, Alma had 20 shots, with 11 on goal.
Senior Eddie Tate had five saves.
The Lady Airedales earned a 7-0 victory over Gravette.
Yoseline Gonzalez scored twice for the winners (3-5-1).
Jasmine Martin scored the first goal. Juliet Hargis, Lily Fimple, Tori Muszanski, and Addison Goodnoh also scored in the victory.
Baseball
Cash Wilson pitched out of a first-inning bases-loaded jam and pitched six shutout innings Tuesday as Alma rolled to an 8-0 victory over Siloam Springs to complete the season sweep and extend Alma’s winning streak to five.
The Airedales (11-7, 4-2) hadn’t won five straight games since 2008. In all, Alma’s won eight of its last nine games, another feat not accomplished since ’08.
Michael Taylor and Brayden Driscoll had three hits apiece, and seven different players drove in runs for the Airedales, with senior Sheppard Osborn driving in two runs.
Driscoll worked a perfect seventh for the Airedales.
Through six games, Alma is currently tied for second place in the 5A-West with Russellville.
Both Greenwood and Harrison are 5-1.
Alma travels to Springdale on Friday to play Shiloh Christian. The Airedales open a two-game series with Russellville on Monday.
Softball
The Alma Lady Airedales’ softball team suffered a 19-2 loss to Farmington on Tuesday.
Junior Brooklyn Neighbors took the loss.
Alma (7-8, 1-5) travels to Lavaca on Thursday for a nonconference game, and the Lady Airedales hit the road for Siloam Springs on Friday.
Alma’s next home game is Monday against Ozark.
