MUSICAL MANSION

The Friday before Spring Break, Alma Intermediate students celebrated Music in Our Schools Month with Mrs. Walden’s annual Musical Mansion event. This beloved tradition featured a talent show and a composer float competition, giving students the chance to showcase their creativity and musical knowledge.

The Musical Mansion Talent Show highlighted a variety of performances, including gymnastics, tap dancing, singing, cheerleading, instrumental solos on trumpet, bass, and piano, and even a unique act of playing a maraca while drawing! Students displayed their skills in front of peers and family, making for an exciting and entertaining show.

As part of the composer float competition, students researched a composer, presented their findings to their class, and then worked together to create a float representing a song or scene related to that composer. Using recycled materials, each float had to include hidden elements such as the composer’s image, their home country's flag, and the song title. A panel of community judges evaluated the floats based on creativity, accuracy, and craftsmanship, while students also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite in the People’s Choice Award.

The event was a fantastic way to celebrate music education, student creativity, and the joy of learning through the arts. Congratulations to all participants for making Musical Mansion 2024 a great success!
