Seth Canales scored twice, and Lukas Todd had eight saves to help the Alma Airedalesā€™ soccer to a 5-1 win over Prairie Grove Thursday night.

The win snapped a 17-game losing skid for the Airedales (1-0-1).

Freshman Hamir Thibodeaux put Alma ahead, 1-0, with a goal in the 21st minute. Marco Canales assisted Seth with a goal in the 39th minute.

Alma scored three goals in the final half, with Seth Canalesā€™s corner kick leading to Elliot Resinosā€™s goal in the 50th minute. Jay Patel, with an assist from Lukas Wald, helped make it 4-0 in the 60th minute.

Thanks to an assist from Elliot Resinos, Seth Canales helped extend the lead in the 64th minute.

The Lady Airedales made it 2-0 in the season with a 1-0 win over Prairie Grove.

Freshman Jasmine Martinā€™s goal in the 27th minute of the first half accounted for the gameā€™s lone score.

The Airedales return home to open conference Tuesday against Russellville.

Softball

The Alma Lady Airedales rallied twice on Thursday to take down Clarksville, 10-6, in nonconference softball.

Freshman Harper Jernigan was the winning pitcher.

ā€œIt takes a lot, especially after the way last season went with such a young team,ā€ senior Cali Frazier said. ā€œI think all the girls have bought in that hard work will pay off.ā€

Alma led 2-0 after two innings but fell behind 4-2 and 6-5 before coming from behind.

ā€œThatā€™s what coach (Dustin) Bakenhus harps on the most - just staying aggressive,ā€ Frazier said. ā€œWhen something happens, you just go to the next page, and thatā€™s the most important thing that happened tonight.ā€

Baseball

Logan English hit his first career home run, and Brayden Driscoll pitched a scoreless seventh inning to help lead the Airedales to a 5-4 win over the Denton Broncos in the Justin High School Northwest (Texas) Classic.

Cash Wilson went four innings for the win.

English led the Airedales with three hits. Wilson, Easton Daily, and Sheppard Osborn also hit safely.

The Airedales (1-1) return home on March 18 to play Greenwood.
