Alma seniors Camden Curd and Miles Kendrick completed three-point plays during a 17-6 fourth-quarter surge Tuesday to lift the Airedales to a 51-43 win over Van Buren and a season sweep of their Crawford Country rivals.

It was Alma’s first season sweep of the Pointers since 2005.

Alma (18-11, 8-5) can clinch the No. 3 seed heading into next week’s state tournament with a win over Siloam Springs Friday.

“To come out here this year and beat them twice, a rival, and it feels good to punch your ticket to the state tournament,” Curd said. “It was a good team win. I wasn’t hitting shots early in the game, and then when it was my turn I hit some big shots.”

Curd hit a 3-pointer and added a three-point play to give the Airedales a 47-36 lead.

Kendrick finished with 17 points and went 4-of-5 from the foul line in the fourth quarter as the Airedales outscored the Pointers, 21-13, over the final eight minutes.

Tyree McGill added eight points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

The Lady Airedales dropped a hard-fought 38-31 decision to Van Buren Tuesday in 5A-West play. Jordan Gramlich led the Lady Airedales with 14 points.

Alma will celebrate Senior Night Friday against Siloam Spring.
