Alma Splits with Russellville

Alma 63, Russellville 59
BOYS - Israel Towns-Robinson scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help power Alma to a 63-59 win over Russellville and into third place in the 5A-West. The Airedales have beaten the Cyclones four straight times for the first time since 1987-2012 (‘1987, 2008, 2011, 2011).
Alma (15-9, 5-3) trailed briefly (7-4) before taking the lead for good on Easton Boggs' 3-pointer. A 15-2 run gave the airedales a 19-9 lead late in the first quarter.
Miles Kendrick, who also scored 17 points, completed a four-point play after nailing one of his three 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Airedales stretched their lead to 34-19. Alma led 37-27 at the half and 52-40 at the end of three.
Boggs finished with 14 points, Tyree McGill added eight points, and 6-for-6 from the line. Alma finished 20-of-24 from the free-throw line and Russellville was just 9-of-17.
Malaki Siner led the Cyclones (18-7, 4-4) with 15 points.
The Airedales host Farmington on Friday.
Russellville 59, Alma 41
GIRLS - Jasmine Garcia scored eight of her game-high 18 points in the first quarter as the Lady Cyclones breezed past slumping Alma, 59-41.
Russellville (7-17, 2-6) opened the game on a 14-0 run and led 21-2 before Alma (13-11, 1-7) closed to within seven (23-16) early in the second quarter.
Russellville, however, extended the lead back to 18 midway through the third quarter. Sophomore Kloee Garner, who had three early 3-pointers, finished with 15 points.
Jordan Gramlich scored 19 points to raise her career total to 1,390 points.
The Airedales host Farmington on Friday.
