Late push sparks Airedales  to 45-38 win over Fullbright

Luke Stogsdill snapped a 36-36 tie with a pair of baskets and the Alma Airedales’ junior high team rallied for a season-opening 45-38 win over Bentonville Fullbright Junior High School. 

The Airedales (1-0) trailed 21-17 at the half and were still down 33-26 in the second half when Carson Curd popped one of his two 3-pointers and sparked the Airedales on a game-clinching 19-5 scoring run. 

Curd finished with a team-high 13 points and three assists. 

Stogsdill finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Hudson Loughridge and Lawson Adams added 10 and eight points, respectively, for the winners. Alma’s Sammy Moore added two points and an assist. 

Fullbright 44, Alma 34 

GIRLS — The Alma Lady Airedales suffered a 44-34 season-opening loss to Bentonville Fullbright Junior High Wednesday at Crabtree Gym.

Alma (0-1) led 27-17 before Fullbright went to work with a game-ending 27-7 scoring burst. The Lady Airedales were 5-of-15 at the free-throw line. 

Olivia Hughes and Faith Sartor led Alma with 13 and 11 points, respectively. 

Madie House and Chloe Kovalck finished with five and three points, respectively, for the Lady Airedales. 

Fulbright 49, Alma 22

BOYS — The Alma Airedales’ eighth-grade team suffered a 49-22 loss to Bentonville Fullbright in the season opener for both teams Wednesday. 

Tucker Workman led the Airedales with eight points. Teammate Gabe Hardin finished with six points, and Carson Hamilton added three points. 

Fulbright 50, Alma 12 

GIRLS — The Alma Lady Airedales’ eighth-grade team suffered a 50-12 setback Wednesday. 

Chloe Kovalck led Alma with seven points. Teammate Gracye Routt finished with three points.
