Demetrius Parish won the 5A-West triple jump Thursday with a leap of 43 feet, two inches - just one inch shy of matching his school-record leap of 43-3 set earlier this spring. 

Samuel Schlegel punched his ticket to the state meet with a pair of strong finishes in the 110 and 300 intermediate hurdles. He was second (42.22) in the 300 hurdles and third (16.26) in the 110. 

Senior Jael Nunez earned a berth in the state meet with a third-place finish (51.88) in the 400 meters and a fourth-place finish (23.66) in the 200 meters. He, Parish, Dillon Flanagan, and Braxton Kilgore clinched a berth in the state meet with a fourth-place finish (1:33.99) in the 800 relays. 

Byron Standridge clinched his ticket to the state meet as well with a third-place finish (23.22) in the 200. He was sixth (didn’t place) in the 100. Standridge, Nunez, Owen McCoy, and Ayden Parker were fourth (3:37.07) in the 1600 relays. 

Jaidon Humphrey, Yoseline Gonzalez, McKinzy Berna, and Vivian Beneux earned a berth in the state meet with a fourth-place finish (1;55.36) in the 800-meter relays. 

Kenadie Farris also clinched a ticket to the state meet with a fourth-place finish (4-8) in the high jump.
