Alma junior boys roll

 

The Alma Airedales’ junior high boys basketball team put Greenwood away before they knew what hit them. 

 

The Airedales outscored the Bulldogs, 30-11, in the first half and rolled to a 47-26 victory Wednesday night. 

 

Sam Schlegel and Jeremiah Schlegel hit 18 and 11 points, respectively, for the winners. Kade Fagan and Easton Daily finished with seven and six points, respectively. 

 

Braden Kimes and Dee Jones scored two points apiece. Coach Eddie Corder praised the effort of Owen McCoy. Fagan also took two charges. 

 

The Airedales conclude the regular season on Thursday at Van Buren. 

 

Alma 8th grade boys cruise

 

Hudon Loughridge hit back-to-back 3-pointers to help Alma erase an early 5-2 deficit and the Airedales outscored Greenwood, 27-8, in the second half en route to a 52-29 victory at Wells Intermediate on Wednesday. 

 

Loughridge hit three first-quarter 3-pointers and finished with nine points. 

 

Luke Stogsdill led the way with a game-high 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting. He grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Boaz Benson and Cade Moore combined for six points and nine rebounds. The Airedales outrebounded the Bulldogs, 34-22, 

 

Carson Curd had 11 points for the winners. Daniel Rodriguez added four points, and Sammy Moore and Julian Spears had three apiece. Ezra Keller and Lawson Adams added one point each.

 

Alma junior girls win big

 

The Alma Lady Airedales’ junior high squad didn’t have to worry about a late bucket to beat the Greenwood Lady Bulldogs this time. 

 

Faith Sartor scored 20 points and Alma blistered Greenwood, 39-27, at Crabtree Gym. 

 

Sisters Olivia and Breella Hughes finished with seven and five points, respectively, for the Lady Airedales (17-2). Emberly Kimes and Anna Swarnes finished with four and three points, respectively. 

 

Alma will host Van Buren today at Crabtree Gym. 

 

Alma 8th grade girls fall 

 

The Alma Lady Airedales’ eighth-grade team lost a 36-29 heartbreaker to Greenwood on Wednesday. 

 

Ruthy Dunaway led Alma with a career-high 18 points. Lauren Settles and Kaitlyn Middleton had five and four points, respectively. 

 

Matilyn Dunn finished with two. 

 

Lady Airedale 7th wins

 

Jaeli Morris and Madie House scored eight and six points, respectively, to power Alma’s seventh-grade squad to a 24-19 victory over the Greenwood Lady Bulldogs. 

 

Haven Baxter had four points for Alma, and Mallory Taylor, Grayce Routt, and Khloe Dunn scored two each.
