Alma junior boys roll

 

The Alma Airedales’ junior high boys basketball team made sure there would be a repeat of last month’s overtime loss to Farmington. 

 

The Airedales put this one to bed early. 

 

Braden Kimes dropped a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers and Jeremiah Schlegel scored a game-high 18 points to power the Airedales to a 38-25 win over the first-place Cardinals at Crabtree Gym. 

 

Schlegel added eight rebounds and three steals. 

 

Kimes and Sam Schlegel added eight points apiece. Easton Daily added two early buckets and finished with four points. Daily also gobbled up eight rebounds. 

 

Sam Schlegel also had eight rebounds and four steals for the winners. 

 

Alma travels to Greenwood on Feb. 15. 

 

Alma 8th grade boys fall 

 

Some costly turnovers and missed opportunities helped Farmington hold off the Airedales, 44-36, in eighth-grade basketball action. 

 

Alma trailed 34-21 in the second half when they rallied to within two (36-34) thanks to three Landon Taylor 3-pointers. 

 

But the Cardinals, who lost to Alma at home in the first round, hit some key free throws in the final minute to secure the win. Taylor led Alma with 11 points. 

 

Luke Stogsdill had nine points and 14 rebounds. Lawson Adams and Cade Moore combined for 11 boards. The Airedales outrebounded Farmington, 35-21, but committed 16 turnovers. 

 

Boaz Benson and Carson Curd finished with five and four points, respectively, for the Airedales. Hudson Loughridge had three points, and Adams and Sammy Moore added two points each. 

 

Alma junior girls fall, 49-29

 

The Alma Lady Airedales’ junior high squad suffered a 49-29 loss to Farmington Thursday. 

 

Faith Sartor led Alma with 13 points. Olivia Hughes added seven points, and Emberly Kimes and Izabel Benson had five and four points, respectively. 

 

The Lady Airedales host Greenwood on Feb. 15. 

 

Alma 8th grade girls fall 

 

The Alma Lady Airedales’ eighth-grade team lost to Farmington, 49-11. 

 

Matilyn Dunn led the way with six points. Jaeda Cahoon and Lauren Settles had two points each, and Kaitlyn Middleton finished with one point.
