Alma junior boys rally

 

Coach Eddie Corder’s Alma Airedales’ junior high boys team erased an eight-point deficit with a 36-33 come-from-behind win over Van Buren Thursday at Crabtree Gym.  

 

Sam Schlegel had 16 points, seven rebounds, and five steals for the Airedales. Jeremiah Schlegel added 10 points and five assists, and Braden Kimes had six points, including a key 3-pointer in the final minute. 

 

Defensive specialist Kade Fagan had two points and took three big charges. That’s six charges in the last two games. 

 

Dee Jones had two points for the Airedales. 

 

Alma travels to Greenwood Monday to face the Bulldogs. 

 

Alma 8th grade boys 

 

Hudson Loughridge scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half and the Alma eighth-grade boys team finished the first round of conference with a 5-0 record after beating Van Buren Butterfield, 55-37. 

 

Luke Stogsdill finished with 10 points. Carson Curd, on the heels of a 20-point effort in Monday’s win over Farmington, added eight points. 

 

Alma’s bench accounted for 21 points, with Boaz Benson and Brycen Lester leading the way with seven and five points, respectively. Ezra Keller and Landon Taylor scored four and three points, respectively. 

 

Sammy Moore, Lawson Adams, and Drake Ciampoli added two points apiece. 

 

The Airedales travel to Greenwood Monday. 

 

Alma junior girls win, 31-28

 

The Alma junior Lady Airedales remained perfect on the road Thursday with a 31-28 win over Van Buren Butterfield. 

 

Breella Hughes and Faith Sartor scored 10 points apiece for the winners (14-1). Olivia Hughes and Emberly Kimes finished with five and four points, respectively. 

 

Izabel Benson had two points for the Lady Airedales, who finished the first round of the conference with a 4-1 record. 

 

Alma will host Greenwood Monday. 

 

Alma 7th grade Green wins

 

Alma’s seventh grade ‘Green’ team rolled to a 45-28 victory over Butterfield Thursday. 

 

Brody Johnson and Carson Hamilton combined for 26 points in the victory, with Johnson scoring 16. 

 

Brennen Gwinn and Jack Taylor had six and five points, respectively. Baron Daily had four points, and Taylor Workman and Eli Beller finished with two each.    

 

Airedale 8th grade girls roll

 

Jaeda Cahoon scored nine points to pace the Alma Lady Airedales’ eighth-grade girls' team to a 26-12 win over Van Buren Butterfield

 

Lauren Settles and Kaitlyn Middleton finished with five and four points, respectively. Ruthy Dunaway and Matilyn Dunn had three points each, and Mallory Holcombe finished with two points.

 

Alma 7th Green girls win big

 

Madie House scored nine points and Ellyse Wright and Jaeli Morris finished with eight apiece to power Alma’s seventh-grade Green squad to a 32-12 win over Van Buren Butterfield. 

 

Haven Baxter had three points, and Mallory Taylor and Khloe Dunn added two apiece. 

 

Alma 7th Gold girls romp

 

Juliet Hargis and RaeLynn Avey scored 10 and nine points, respectively, to power Alma’s seventh-grade Gold team to a 30-1 rout of Butterfield. 

 

Kylie Dunn had five points, and Grace Kannett, Chaylee Hatman and Lauren Burdick had two points apiece.
