Lady Airedales blow out George
Alma scored early and often en route to a 52-22 blowout of Springdale George in the junior high girls basketball opener for both teams Thursday.
Faith Sartor and Izabel Benson led the charge with 16 and 15 points, respectively. McKinzy Berna had six, and Anna Swarnes and Olivia Hughes added four each.
Alma 29, George 26
BOYS - Easton Daily scored eight points and grabbed 16 rebounds, and put Alma ahead for good with 40 seconds left, to help pace the Airedales’ to a 29-26 win over Springdale George in the season opener Thursday in Springdale.
Jeremiah Schlegel finished with nine points, and Will Scott added seven. Sam Schlegel contributed with nine rebounds.
Alma 40, George 25
BOYS - Luke Stogsdill had 16 points to pace Alma’s eighth-grade boys basketball team to a 40-25 blowout of Springdale George.
Alma led 21-7 at the half and opened up a 40-14 lead in the second half.
Sammy Moore had six points, Carson Curd five, and Cade Moore four.

GIRLS - Lauren Settle scored eight points and Kaitlyn Middleton contributed seven on Thursday to power the Lady Airedales to a 27-8 win over Springdale George.
Jaeda Cahoon and Ruthy Dunaway finished with four points apiece.
