The last thing Dardanelle needed to do Thursday night was burn a timeout.

Thinking Alma would take one final shot to the end zone, the Sand Lizards may have underestimated Daniel Rodriguez’s strong right foot.

The Airedales’ eighth grader kicked a 32-yard field goal as time expired to give Alma a 23-21 win over the Sand Lizards.

For Alma, Sam Schlegel rushed for 204 yards and scored twice. He also threw a TD pass to Logan English.

Schlegel, who was 7-of-10 passing for 76 yards, led the team with seven tackles, too. Caleb Liles had a 47-yard reception.

Tim Plourde had five tackles for the Airedales. Chase Parker and Trenton Kilgore had four stops apiece.

The Airedales’ Jael Nunez and Logan Evans finished 80th and 94th, respectively.

Mountain Home won the boys' title; Greenwood won the girls' event.
