Alma School was honored by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette this week as part of the Best of River Valley.

The school was recognized this week as a ‘Silver’ winner for best high school in the category of education.

“Alma High School is honored to be nominated and selected as the silver winner,” Alma High School Principal Brian Kirkendoll said. “Positive recognition for AHS is a win for our entire school, district, and especially our community. Our community values our school district and we are fortunate to have a supportive Airedale family.”

“I don’t know how exactly they go about selecting, but I know someone from the community has to nominate you for the ‘Best of the Best.’ We won the Silver,” Assistant Superintendent Dr. Stacie Wood, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning said. “It is really nice. A lot of businesses are nominated. I thought it was really neat that they had an education category to recognize schools.”

Dr. Wood, Kirkendoll, and his two AHS assistant principals, Courtney Cochran and Jason Reeves, also attended the event, along with Alma Superintendent Bryan Duffie.

Alma, Southside, and Lavaca schools received awards as the top high schools in the River Valley.
