A great team effort helped the Alma eighth grade football team to a 13-12 win over Farmington Monday. 

 

Chase Parker had a hand in both of the Airedales’ touchdowns. He threw for 38 yards, including a touchdown pass to Dylan Jackson. 

 

Parker also returned one of his two interceptions for a touchdown. In all, he finished 4-of-7 passing. 

 

Izaac Plourde led the offense with 45 yards rushing on nine carries. He also registered five tackles. 

 

Andrew Bush led the defensive charge with seven tackles. Boaz Benson had four stops, including two quarterback sacks. 

 

Lawson Adams recorded an interception. 

 

Evans headed to state 

 

Alma senior singles tennis standout Logan Evans punched his ticket to the state tournament this week with a pair of clinching wins over Russellville and Mountain Home Monday. 

 

Evans defeated the Cyclones’ Landon Meimerstorf, 6-4, 6-1, in the first match. Evans then defeated Stratton Smith of Mountain Home, 6-3, 6-4. 

 

The state tournament begins Oct. 10 in Hot Springs. 

 

Alma’s Jackson McMurry and Caden Farris beat Van Buren’s Jackson Cervantes and Trevis Bushnag in the opening round before dropping their second set to Mountain Home.
