Alma eighth-graders fall short

The Alma Airedales’ eighth-grade football team suffered a 24-6 loss to Van Buren Northridge on Monday. 

 

Offensively, quarterback Chase Parker threw for 74 yards and a touchdown. Hudson Loughridge had two receptions for 74 yards, a TD, and an interception. 

 

Logan Flanagan and Isaac Plourde rushed for 24 and 20 yards, respectively. 

 

Defensively, Andrew Bush led the Airedales with seven tackles. Plourde and Lawson Adams had four tackles each, and Colton Nutt added three tackles and a quarterback sack. 

 

Alma’s junior varsity tied Siloam Springs on Thursday. 

 

Junior quarterback Jackson Daily threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 56 yards. 

 

Demetrius Parish caught four passes for 57 yards. Trenton Thompson snagged a 53-yard touchdown pass and Bayden Driscoll caught one pass for 17 yards. 

 

Defensively, Caleb Parker led the Airedales with six tackles. Thompson had four tackles and a pair of quarterback sacks. 

 

Tennis 

 

Alma’s No. 1 doubles team of Jackson McMurray and Caden Farris won a tight 8-8 (7-5) decision over Russellville on Monday. 

 

Alma’s No. 2 girls' doubles team of Piper Powell and Kensington won their doubles match Monday, 8-4. 

 

In singles play, No. 2 singles player Jeremiah Schlegel coasted to an 8-2 victory. The Airedales’ top singles player, Logan Evans, dropped an 8-6 decision. 

 

Volleyball 

 

The Alma Lady Airedales suffered a 25-23, 25-16, 25-10 loss to Hackett on Monday in nonconference action.
