Science Curriculum
Alma School District is committed to quality Science instruction for all students. Arkansas Science Standards closely follow the tenants of Next Generation Science Standards. Curriculum is focused on Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs), commonly referred to as 'content'; Cross Cutting Concepts (CCCs), commonly referred to as 'conceptual understanding'; and Science and Engineering Principles (SEPs), commonly referred to as 'real-world applications'. We utilize Mystery Science K-5, OpenSciEd 6-8, and teacher-developed materials 9-12.
Grades 3-8 also utilize Gizmos.
Gizmos are interactive STEM simulations crafted to meet our Arkansas Science Standards. These online simulations allow our teachers the ability to engage students in online simulations that foster a deeper conceptual understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math subjects. These online labs and student-centered, inquiry-based activities that encourage hands-on exploration, promote a dynamic learning environment that sparks curiosity and enthusiasm.
